#ParksAndRecreation S05E16 – “Partridge”
Leslie and Ben travel back to his hometown of Partridge, MN to accept the key to the city. Ron gets served a lawsuit from councilman Jamm, while Ann and Chris take a compatible parenting quiz.
I can see what they were trying to do in this episode. It was a filler episode, but one which had some meaning behind it, but everything just missed for some reason.
It brought back the Ben storyline of him running his town into the ground. It seems that they are back on their feet and want to hand him a key to the city. How Ben didn’t see what would have happened was beyond me, but at least they gave us some comedy with Morphined up Ben. It also reinforced in us that Ben is now a Pawneean and Partridges loss is their gain
The Chris/Anne story was set up to show them that it doesn’t matter what other people say, if they want to be parents and will love a child, that is all that is needed. But was it decided off camera that Chris would help with the raising? I thought he was just a donor, and now it seems like he’s planning to raise it with Anne.
The Jamm storyline seemed to exist to give Jamm some kind of comeuppance, which whilst wasn’t needed, was ok, the end of it, just felt a little too convenient and rushed though, maybe if the story had spanned two episode or more it would have had a bit more impact.
